USF continues to be a top-tier university touted for the value of its education, according to the latest U.S. News & World Report (USNWR) rankings.

The university is ranked in the top 100 of more than 1,600 schools reviewed by USNWR nationwide. USF also ranked 61 among 301 schools for “best value,” which compares academic quality to price.

In addition, USF made the high school counselors’ list of highly rated schools, ranked in the top 10 for campus ethnic diversity, was rated one the best universities for veterans, and, for the eighth straight year, made the “A+ Schools for B Students” list.

USF’s undergraduate business program ranked 108 among similar programs nationwide.

“We’re proud of our new rankings,” said Provost Don Heller. “What we’re more proud of is that we didn’t change our mission in pursuit of higher rankings.”

Supporting first-gen students

USF jumped to 10th from 25th in graduation rate performance — a metric that ranks schools on their ability to graduate students on schedule based on high school performance and test scores.

“When you have more than 35 percent first-generation college students, as we do, it’s difficult to achieve a high graduation rate because many first-generation students struggle in school for many different reasons,” Heller said. “But at USF we stand for justice, diversity, and opportunity, so we welcome and support those students, along with other promising students who didn’t necessarily earn straight A’s in high school.”
